Bible Verse Analysis – Philippians 4:5

Decoding Philippians 4:5

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”

Why should god say this? To whom, Apostle Paul told this? How does it relate to you?

Here we go,

If you want to understand and feel any bible verse, you should ask these questions to yourself.

Holy spirit has encouraged the people of Philippians to continue their gentle behavior. Yes, Apostle paul wrote this letter to the church of Philippi. The Philippian church was known to be one of the earliest church founded in Europe.

God want his church members to be gentle among the other people living in the earth.

Paul also stated that he intend to do what is right in the sight of god as well as people. 2 Corinthians 5:18 says “We intend to do only what is right, not only in the sight of the lord, but also in the sight of people“(ISV bible version)

Why did paul insist us to be right in front of the people?

Why did paul ask us to mind our gentle behavior in front of the people?

Jesus said “..let your light shine before people in such a way that they will see your good actions and glorify your father in heaven” – Mathew 5:16 – ISV bible version

Yes, my dear brother and sister. People who are working with you, living among you, studying with you are watching you.

They watch you because you are a Christian.

They watch you because you follow Jesus Christ.

They watch you because you have bible with you.

Jesus said your actions (whatever you do) should be good. If your behavior is good, gentle, and right, Your fellowmen will glorify our god in heaven.

In Colossians 3:17 we read, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

  • The world is watching whether you are greedy for money (Hebrews 13:5)
  • The world is watching whether you keep worrying about your life like normal people or having faith on god as a Christ follower (Mathew 6:25)
  • The world is watching whether you are the true sheep of Jesus listening to his voice (John 10:16)

Let your gentleness be evident to all as per Philippians 4:5.
